The LT77 is a five-speed all-synchromesh manual gearbox that sits between the clutch housing and the transfer box, carrying drive from the clutch through to the transfer gearbox input shaft. The 54A suffix identifies the build specification matched to the 2.4 and 2.5 litre VM diesel engine.

Fill with the specified transmission oil to the correct level before the unit is put into service. Renewing the clutch driven plate, cover and release bearing while the gearbox is out is normal practice.
