Accelerator Cable for the throttle linkage of the 3.5L V8 petrol carburettor engine. The cable transmits accelerator pedal movement to the carburettor throttle spindle, opening and closing the throttle in direct response to pedal input.

Routed from the pedal box, through the bulkhead, to the carburettor linkage. Suitable for both LHD and RHD installations.

Frequently asked questions

What does the NRC5494 accelerator cable do?
The NRC5494 accelerator cable transmits pedal movement to the carburettor throttle spindle on the 3.5 V8 petrol Land Rover Defender. Pressing the pedal pulls the cable open; releasing it lets the throttle return. It's the direct mechanical link between pedal and carburettor.
Where is the accelerator cable routed?
The accelerator cable runs from the pedal box, through the bulkhead, to the carburettor throttle linkage on the V8 Defender. It suits both left-hand and right-hand drive installations, following the same path on either side of the engine bay.
What are the signs the accelerator cable needs replacing?
A failing accelerator cable typically feels stiff, sticky, or notchy at the pedal, and a frayed inner can snap without warning. On the carburettor V8 Defender a stretched or seized cable gives poor throttle response. Replace it once the pedal action isn't smooth.
Does this fit any Defender, or only the V8?
The NRC5494 cable is specific to the 3.5 V8 petrol Defender with a carburettor, not the diesel or injection models. The carburettor throttle linkage differs from later throttle bodies, so confirm your engine is the carburettor V8 before ordering.
