Frequently asked questions

What is the NY114041L nyloc nut and where is it used on a Land Rover?
The NY114041L is an M14 nyloc self-locking nut used on the front radius arm mounting. It fits Defender up to VIN 2A626645, Discovery 1 1989 to 1998, Range Rover Classic 1970 to 1994, and specific Jaguar models including XJ6/XJ12 (XJ40) and XJS.
Can a nyloc nut be reused after removal?
No. Nyloc nuts are single-use by design. The nylon insert that provides the locking action permanently deforms on first use. A reused nyloc nut can't maintain the correct clamping load on a suspension joint and must always be replaced with a new one.
How many M14 nyloc nuts are typically needed for a front radius arm job?
A front radius arm replacement typically requires one nut at each pivot point. The exact count depends on the specific joint configuration, so check the workshop manual for your application and order a small surplus to avoid stopping mid-job.
