Auxiliary Drive Belt - polyvee (multi-rib) belt, 2030mm, for the ancillary drive on the Td4 M47 2.0L 16-valve four-cylinder turbo diesel.
Driven from the crankshaft pulley, the belt transmits drive to the alternator, the power assisted steering pump and the water pump on a single circuit. Because the coolant pump is driven from this belt, a slipping, shredded or thrown auxiliary belt costs coolant circulation as well as charging and steering assistance, so belt condition is a cooling-system concern on this engine and not only an electrical one.
A polyvee belt should be renewed rather than refitted once it has been removed. Inspect for rib cracking, glazing and edge fraying at each service, and check the tensioner and idler bearings while the belt is off.
