Starter Solenoid for the starter motor on 2.5 litre four-cylinder diesel engines.

Mounted on the starter motor within the engine cranking circuit, the solenoid is the heavy-duty electromagnetic switch: when energised from the ignition switch it throws the pinion into mesh with the flywheel ring gear and closes the high-current contacts that feed the starter motor windings.
