SEE100340Z is the front brake caliper guide pin kit for the Freelander 1 from VIN 1A000001. The pins carry the sliding caliper on its carrier bracket so it can centre itself over the disc as the pads wear.
What happens if a seized guide pin is not replaced?
A seized pin stops the front caliper sliding, so only the piston side pad does the work. That pad and one side of the disc wear out early, braking goes uneven, and on a Freelander 1 the caliper can run hot enough to cook the fluid behind the piston.
