Big End Bearing Set — connecting-rod (big-end) bearing shells for the V8 engine bottom end.

The shells sit between the connecting-rod big-end bores and the crankshaft crankpin journals, forming the running surface that carries the rod loads on the rotating crank. This set is the 0.010" (0.25 mm) oversize grade, matched to a crankshaft whose big-end journals have been machined to the corresponding size during reconditioning. For the 4.0 EFI V8 petrol engine.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC142610 big end bearing set and what does it do?
The STC142610 is a connecting-rod (big-end) bearing set for the 4.0 EFI V8 petrol engine. The shells sit between the conrod big-end bores and the crankshaft journals, forming the running surface that carries the rod loads as the crank turns. This is the 0.010 inch oversize grade.
What does the 0.010 inch oversize grade mean?
The 0.010 inch (0.25mm) oversize means these shells are matched to a crankshaft whose big-end journals have been reground 0.010 inch undersize during reconditioning. Don't fit them to a standard, unmachined crank. Check the journal grind size from your engine reconditioner before ordering.
How many bearing shells are in this set?
This is a complete set covering the full V8 bottom end, so it typically includes shells for all eight connecting rods. You don't need to order multiple sets for one engine. All shells are the same 0.010 inch oversize grade.
What are the signs big end bearings need replacing?
Worn big-end bearings on the V8 typically show as a deep knocking noise from the bottom end under load, often with low oil pressure. They're usually replaced during a full engine rebuild rather than on their own. Running worn shells risks crankshaft journal damage.
