Banjo Bolt for the injector leak-off connection on the 2.5L 200 TDi and 300 TDi turbo diesel engines.
The bolt passes through the eye of the leak-off (spill return) pipe and threads into the top of the injector body, clamping the pipe in place while allowing fuel that bypasses the injector needle to pass back through its drilled centre into the return line. The joint is sealed by a copper washer above and below the pipe eye; these crush on tightening and should be renewed whenever the connection is disturbed.
Worn or over-tightened bolts and re-used sealing washers are a common source of diesel weeping around the injectors.
