Clutch Slave Cylinder is the hydraulic actuator of the clutch release circuit. This is a concentric (central) slave cylinder that mounts inside the bellhousing, around the gearbox input shaft, with the release bearing integrated into the unit.

Fed with fluid from the clutch master cylinder, it converts hydraulic pressure into the axial movement that acts on the clutch diaphragm to disengage the clutch when the pedal is pressed.

Frequently asked questions

What does the UUB000010 clutch slave cylinder do?
The UUB000010 clutch slave cylinder is the hydraulic actuator that releases the clutch on the Freelander 1. It's a concentric, or central, type that mounts inside the bellhousing around the gearbox input shaft, with the release bearing built in. Fluid from the master cylinder pushes it to disengage the clutch.
What are the symptoms of a failing clutch slave cylinder?
A failing clutch slave cylinder usually shows as a soft or sinking clutch pedal, trouble selecting gears, or fluid loss from the clutch circuit. Because this concentric type sits inside the bellhousing, replacement means removing the gearbox, so it's typically renewed whenever the clutch is out.
Should the slave cylinder be replaced when changing the clutch?
Replacing this concentric slave cylinder while the clutch is out is usually worthwhile, since the gearbox has to come off to reach it either way. The integrated release bearing wears with the clutch, so fitting a new unit helps avoid a second strip-down later.
What's the difference between UUB000010 and UUB000070 or UUB000050?
UUB000010 is cross-referenced with UUB000070 and UUB000050 as alternative codes for the Freelander 1 clutch slave cylinder. These interchange across production changes. Check which version matches your gearbox and release bearing setup, and use your VIN to confirm before ordering.
