Locking Washer of the Starlock (shakeproof) type, a push-on retainer used to hold a component onto a plain shaft or to lock a fastener against vibration.

Its sprung internal teeth bite into the shaft or thread, resisting the back-off that chassis and engine vibration would otherwise cause. A single-use retainer, replaced whenever it is disturbed.
