Frequently asked questions

What is the Td5 fuel pipe for?

The Td5 fuel pipe carries fuel from the in-tank pump forward to the engine on the Defender. It's an under-body pipe assembly with the feed and return lines run together as a colour-coded set, forming part of the Td5 diesel fuel delivery system.

Which vehicle does fuel pipe WJP500090 fit?

Fuel pipe WJP500090 fits the Land Rover Defender from 1998 to 2006 with the 2.5-litre Td5 five-cylinder turbo diesel engine only. It won't fit the earlier 300Tdi or other engines, so confirm yours is a Td5 before ordering.

How is the Td5 fuel pipe secured along the chassis?

The Td5 fuel pipe is retained along the chassis by clips, part number ESR4687. These double clips hold the feed and return lines in place under the vehicle, so it's worth checking your clips and replacing any perished ones when fitting the pipe.

Why do Td5 fuel pipes need replacing?

Td5 fuel pipes typically need replacing when they corrode or the lines perish with age, which can cause fuel leaks or weeping under the vehicle. A failing under-body pipe risks fuel loss and starting problems, so it's usually replaced once corrosion or splits appear.
