Banjo Bolt - the hollow union bolt that secures the external oil feed pipe to the cylinder head within the engine lubrication circuit.

It clamps the banjo end of the oil feed pipe against the cylinder head, while its cross-drilled body lets pressurised oil pass from the pipe into the head's oil gallery to lubricate the valve gear. Suits 2.25 petrol and diesel engines; the companion oil feed pipe is part 595478.

Frequently asked questions

What is this banjo bolt used for?
This banjo bolt is the hollow union bolt that secures the external oil feed pipe to the cylinder head in the engine lubrication circuit. Its cross-drilled body lets pressurised oil pass from the pipe into the head's oil gallery to lubricate the valve gear, while clamping the pipe's banjo end against the head.
Which engines does it fit?
This banjo bolt typically suits the 2.25 petrol and diesel four-cylinder engines fitted to the Series and early Defender. Because the oil feed union can differ between engines, it's worth matching this bolt against your original before ordering to confirm the thread and seat match.
Do I need to replace the sealing washers with this bolt?
Yes, the copper sealing washers on an oil feed banjo bolt are typically renewed every time the joint is opened. Reused washers often weep oil under pressure, and an oil feed leak at the cylinder head can starve the valve gear. Fit a fresh washer each side and torque to the manual specification.
