Inlet Manifold Seal seals the joint between the inlet manifold and the throttle body within the air intake system.

Fitted to the 2.2L TDCi (Td4) diesel engine, it maintains an airtight seal at the manifold-to-throttle-body interface, preventing air leaks so that metered airflow and boost pressure reach the combustion chambers correctly. A perished or leaking seal at this joint can cause rough running, loss of power and intake air metering faults.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Inlet Manifold Seal do on a Land Rover Defender?
The Inlet Manifold Seal seals the joint between the inlet manifold and throttle body on the 2.2L TDCi (Td4) Defender Puma 2007-2016. It keeps the intake airtight so metered airflow and boost pressure reach the cylinders correctly.
Where on the engine is the inlet manifold seal located?
The inlet manifold seal sits at the manifold-to-throttle-body interface in the air intake system of the 2.2L TDCi Defender. It's an engine-bay part accessed at the intake side of the engine, from VIN CA000001 on the Puma.
What are the signs the inlet manifold seal needs replacing?
A perished or leaking inlet manifold seal typically causes rough running, loss of power and intake air metering faults on the 2.2L TDCi Defender. It's usually renewed whenever the inlet manifold or throttle body is removed.
