Decoke Gasket Set for the 3.9/4.0/4.2L Rover V8 EFI petrol engine. This is the set of gaskets and seals used to reseal the top end of the engine - the cylinder heads and upper assembly - after the heads have been removed for decarbonising or overhaul.

It reseals the combustion chambers, coolant and oil passages and the valve cover faces, restoring correct sealing across the mating surfaces on reassembly. Cylinder head bolts are not included and should be obtained separately.

Inspect all mating faces on assembly and replace any component found warped or damaged.

Does the STC1641 fit every 3.9, 4.0 or 4.2 V8?
Not every V8. This set fits the EFI petrol V8 in the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic, but only up to engine number E37D02931B. On later engines the sealing arrangement differs, so check your engine number before ordering.
Are cylinder head bolts included with this gasket set?
No, cylinder head bolts aren't included with the STC1641 set and need to be sourced separately. The set covers gaskets and seals only. Inspect all mating faces on assembly and replace any component that's warped or damaged before torquing the heads down on the Rover V8.
