Frequently asked questions

What is the Carburettor Gasket used for?
The Carburettor Gasket seals the inlet manifold adaptor elbow to the Zenith-Stromberg 175CD carburettor on the 3.5L Rover V8 twin-carburettor petrol engine. It sits between the manifold adaptor and the carburettor body, sealing the air and fuel path. It fits the Defender, Series 2 and 3, and Range Rover Classic.
How many of these gaskets are needed for a full job?
The 3.5L V8 runs twin carburettors, so a full service typically needs two of these gaskets, one per carburettor adaptor. Check both sides when replacing, since a leak on either elbow causes a weak or uneven idle.
Does this fit every Range Rover Classic V8?
On the Range Rover Classic this gasket applies to the twin-carburettor 3.5L V8 up to VIN HA610293. Later Classics moved to fuel injection and don't use it. Confirm your carburettor type and VIN before ordering.
