Frequently asked questions

What is the Fuel Connector Assembly (LR016318) used for?

The Fuel Connector Assembly (LR016318) is the union block that joins the fuel lines on the Td5 2.5L turbo-diesel engine, carrying fuel to and returning it from the engine. This is the two-hose (Euro 3) configuration, fitted to Td5 Defender and Discovery 2 applications.

How do I know if I need the two-hose version of this fuel connector?

This is the two-hose (Euro 3) fuel connector, with two hose connections, for the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo-diesel. Td5 engines were built in different emissions configurations, so count the hose connections on your existing connector before ordering to confirm you need the two-hose type.

How do I confirm this fuel connector fits my Land Rover?

This fuel connector fits the Td5 Defender up to VIN 6A000001 and the Discovery 2 (1998-2004) up to VIN 2A736340, both in the two-hose Euro 3 type. Check your VIN against these breaks, since later Td5 builds used a different connector.

What are the signs this fuel connector needs replacing?

A failing fuel connector typically shows as fuel weeping at the hose unions, hard starting, or a diesel smell around the engine. On Td5 engines the connector seals can harden with age and heat. Replace it if you find fuel leaking at the connection block.
