A suspension bush is the rubber or polyurethane sleeve that lets a suspension arm, anti-roll bar or chassis mounting point pivot and flex without metal touching metal. Worn bushes show up as clonks over bumps, vague or wandering steering, uneven tyre wear and play found at inspection or APK. Because a bush works within the wider Land Rover axle, suspension and steering system, it is worth checking the arm, drop link or mounting point it sits in at the same time. Shock absorber bushes and top mounts are shock-specific fitting hardware, so those live on the Shock Absorbers page instead.
This page brings together the bush and anti-roll bar range for Series, Defender, Discovery, Freelander and Range Rover models. The range is especially broad on the independent-suspension platforms, Discovery 3 and 4 and Range Rover Sport in particular, where anti-roll bar hardware, control arm bushes and active-system components cover many variants. Where the bush is moulded into the arm itself, or the arm is bent, corroded or has a worn ball joint, replace the complete part from Suspension Arms instead.
Buying GuideStart with material. Standard rubber bushes restore the original ride and noise levels and are the sensible choice for a like-for-like repair. Polyurethane bushes, sold as polybush kits, are often chosen for their durability and reduced compliance under load, which can sharpen steering feel, though ride comfort, noise and service life vary by compound and application. Off-road and overland builds often move to polyurethane throughout for that extra control; daily-driven vehicles usually do better on rubber. Anti-roll bar bushes and drop links are common wear items because they move with the suspension on every corner, so check them whenever a knock develops from the front or rear of the vehicle.
Genuine, OEM and aftermarket. Genuine bushes and anti-roll bar parts carry the Land Rover part number. OEM or OES parts come from original-equipment manufacturers or recognised OE suppliers, and brands such as Lemforder, Delphi, Meyle and BWI may appear as OE, OES or aftermarket depending on the specific item. Aftermarket also covers value and upgrade brands, including Polybush for polyurethane bushes and Terrafirma for off-road hardware. For a standard repair, an OEM or OES bush is usually the sensible balance of cost and quality; for off-road or raised builds, match the bush material and anti-roll bar spec to your intended use.

Match the part to your specific vehicle before ordering. Work from the build date and VIN rather than the model year alone, because suspension specification can change mid-production. The VIN plate is on the chassis or under the bonnet depending on model; a VIN or chassis-number search returns the exact suspension build. Confirm three things: the axle, front or rear; the position, such as radius arm, panhard rod or anti-roll bar; and, for anti-roll bar bushes, the bar diameter, since the bush is bored to match the bar and a mismatched inside diameter will not clamp correctly. Some bushes and anti-roll bar parts are handed, position-specific or market and specification-specific, so confirm by VIN before ordering.
FittingAnti-roll bar and suspension bushes are safety-critical parts that affect handling and stability. Torque all fixings to the correct figure for your model, use the correct press tool for pressed-in bushes, and inspect the ball joint or arm the bush sits in while it is off the vehicle.

Land Rover wheel bearings and sealsOften yes. Pressed-in bushes, such as radius arm, panhard rod, trailing arm and anti-roll bar bushes, can usually be pressed out and renewed on their own. Where the bush is moulded integrally into the arm, or the arm itself is bent, corroded or has a worn ball joint, replace the complete arm instead. Check for play at the joint and cracking or splitting in the rubber before deciding.

The anti-roll bar, or stabiliser bar, links the suspension on both sides of an axle and resists body roll in corners. The bushes mount the bar to the chassis or axle and let it twist, while the drop links connect the bar to the suspension arm at each corner. Worn bushes or drop links show up as clonking over bumps and at low speed, and as vague or less controlled handling in corners.
Both. Many bushes are listed individually so you can replace just the worn part, while polyurethane upgrades are commonly supplied as sets of two or four to renew every bush on an arm or axle in one job. Check the listing for pack quantity before ordering, especially on anti-roll bar bush and drop link kits.

It depends which bush. A worn bush in an arm that sets camber, caster or toe, such as a radius arm or wishbone bush, can shift the geometry and is worth checking with a wheel alignment after replacement. Bushes that only locate a panhard rod or anti-roll bar do not directly set alignment angles, but book a check if the ride or handling still feels off after fitting.
