Frequently asked questions

What does the clutch lever pivot pin do?
The clutch lever pivot pin forms the pivot the clutch release lever rotates on inside the LT76 gearbox bellhousing. When you press the clutch pedal, the lever swings on this pin and pushes the release bearing to disengage the clutch. It's fitted to Series 2/3 and early Defender models.
What are the symptoms of a worn clutch lever pivot pin?
A worn or seized clutch lever pivot pin typically causes a heavy or notchy clutch action and uneven release bearing contact. Because the lever no longer pivots cleanly, pedal feel suffers and the release bearing can wear unevenly on the LT76 clutch.
Should I replace the clutch lever pivot pin during a clutch change?
It's worth replacing the pivot pin while the gearbox is off for a clutch change on Series 2/3 and early Defender models. Access needs the bellhousing split, so fitting a new pin then avoids a second gearbox removal if the old pin later wears or seizes.
