Voorschakelweerstand Weerstand in het primaire circuit van de ontsteking van de 3.5L V8 benzinemotor.

In serie geschakeld met de bobine, verlaagt deze de voedingsspanning naar de bobine tijdens normaal bedrijf om de primaire stroom te beperken. Tijdens het starten wordt de weerstand omzeild, zodat de bobine de volledige accuspanning ontvangt voor een sterkere startvonk. Gebruikt bij ontstekingssystemen met onderbrekercontacten.
