Aftermarket Part

Frequently asked questions

What does the RTC6623Z V8 contact set do?
The RTC6623Z contact set times the spark on the 3.5-litre V8 petrol distributor, opening and closing the coil's primary circuit as the distributor turns. It's the non-sliding (fixed) type that bolts to the distributor baseplate.
How do I tell the non-sliding set from the sliding one?
The non-sliding (fixed) contact set fixes straight to the distributor baseplate, whereas the sliding type moves on the plate. They aren't interchangeable, so check whether your V8 distributor uses fixed contacts before ordering this set.
Which Land Rovers take this V8 contact set?
It fits the 3.5 V8 petrol on Land Rover Series 3 (Stage 1), Defender V8 carburettor, and Range Rover Classic 1971 to 1986 V8 carb models. This is the aftermarket contact set for that fixed-contact distributor.
When do the V8 contact points need replacing?
Contact points wear and pit over time, which typically brings on V8 misfire, rough idle and hard starting. The condenser that damps arcing across the points is usually renewed alongside them for a clean, reliable spark.
