Frequently asked questions

What is the 7/16 BSF nut used for?
The 7/16 BSF nut is a hexagonal nut cut with a 7/16 inch British Standard Fine thread. It threads onto a matching 7/16 BSF bolt or stud to secure a bolted joint. BSF is an imperial fine-pitch thread used widely across early Land Rover Series 1, 2 and 3 fasteners.
How do I know if I need a BSF nut and not a metric one?
Use a 7/16 BSF nut only where the original Land Rover thread is BSF, common on the Series 1, 2 and 3. BSF differs from BSW coarse, UNF and metric, so the nut won't run on cleanly if the thread form is wrong. Match it to the existing bolt or stud before fitting.
How many 7/16 BSF nuts will I need?
Order one 7/16 BSF nut per bolt or stud on the joint you're rebuilding. Many Series Land Rover assemblies use several of the same fastener, so count the existing nuts on your component before ordering. Each is supplied as a single nut, not a set.
