Frequently asked questions

What is the LT76 gear lever retaining plate (219722) for?
The 219722 retaining plate bolts over the base of the gear lever on the LT76 manual gearbox turret. It holds the lever ball, spring and seat in the housing so the lever stays located and pivots correctly when selecting gears.
Which Land Rovers use the 219722 retaining plate?
The 219722 retaining plate fits Land Rover Series 2 and 3 and the Defender running the LT76 manual gearbox. Gearbox type rather than model year decides fitment, so confirm your vehicle has the LT76 box before ordering.
Why would the gear lever retaining plate need replacing?
The retaining plate is usually replaced when the gear lever feels loose or jumps in its housing, often alongside a worn lever ball, spring and seat. It's typically renewed during a gear lever rebuild while the turret is already stripped down.
