What is the 200TDi drive belt for?

The drive belt is the poly-vee auxiliary belt for the 2.5L 200TDi diesel engine, fitted to the Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. Driven from the crankshaft pulley, it transmits power to the power steering pump and the other front-end accessory drive components.

Does this belt fit the 300TDi engine?

This belt is specific to the 2.5L 200TDi engine. The later 300TDi uses a different auxiliary drive belt, so confirm your engine is the 200TDi before ordering. On the Discovery 1, the 200TDi was fitted before the 300TDi replaced it.

When should the drive belt be replaced?

Renew the drive belt when it shows cracking, glazing or fraying. A worn poly-vee belt can slip or snap, causing loss of power steering assistance and the other driven accessories. It's good practice to replace it whenever components in the drive path are disturbed.
