What is the ETC7398 copper washer used for?

The ETC7398 copper washer is a soft sealing washer that crushes to form a metal-to-metal seal at threaded and banjo oil unions. It seals fittings like the sump drain plug, oil pressure switch and oil cooler pipe adaptors on the TDi and V8 EFI engines.

Can the copper washer be reused?

Copper sealing washers are typically single-use. They crush to match the joint when tightened, so a reused washer usually won't seal as well and can weep oil. Fit a fresh one whenever you remove the union, such as the sump drain plug.

How many do I need and where are they used?

You'll need one washer per sealing joint. A sump drain plug takes one, while a banjo or oil cooler pipe union may need one each side of the fitting. It fits the 200TDi and V8 EFI Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
