Aftermarket Part
Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.

Vehicle Model Land Rover Discovery 2 1998-2004 (L318)
Fitment Notes DISCOVERY 2 1998-2004 — 4.0/4.6L V8 Benzine. Voorste zuurstof-/lambdasonde, op de downpipe.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front lambda sensor do on a Discovery 2 V8?
The front lambda sensor measures the oxygen content of the exhaust gas leaving the cylinder head and feeds that signal to the engine control module. On the 4.0/4.6L V8 petrol Discovery 2 it sits on the exhaust downpipe, upstream of the catalytic converter, letting the ECM hold the air/fuel mixture in closed-loop control.
Which sensor position is this, upstream or downstream?
This is the front (upstream) sensor, mounted on the downpipe before the catalytic converter. It's the pre-cat sensor the ECM uses for live fuelling corrections, not the post-cat sensor that monitors converter efficiency. Fits the Discovery 2 4.0/4.6L V8 petrol.
What are the signs a front oxygen sensor is failing?
Common signs on the V8 Discovery 2 are poor fuel economy, rough or uneven idle, hesitation and an illuminated engine warning light with an oxygen sensor fault code. A lazy or dead sensor typically pushes the ECM out of accurate closed-loop fuelling.
How do I confirm this fits my vehicle?
This front lambda sensor fits the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004) with the 4.0 or 4.6L V8 petrol engine. It does not apply to the Td5 diesel. Check your engine type before ordering, as petrol and diesel exhaust sensors differ.
