Steering Rocker Shaft Bush - a bearing bush within the steering relay assembly.

The bush locates and supports the rocker (relay) shaft inside the steering relay housing, allowing the shaft to pivot as steering input is transferred from the drag link to the track rod. Worn bushes introduce play in the relay and contribute to steering wander.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Steering Rocker Shaft Bush used for?
The Steering Rocker Shaft Bush is a bearing bush inside the steering relay housing. It locates and supports the rocker, or relay, shaft so it can pivot as steering input passes from the drag link to the track rod. It fits Land Rover Series 1, 2, 2A and 3.
What are the signs the rocker shaft bushes are worn?
Worn rocker shaft bushes introduce play in the steering relay, which usually shows as steering wander, free play at the wheel and vague response on the road. If the relay shaft can be rocked in its housing, the bushes are due for replacement on your Series Land Rover.
How many bushes come in the box?
These bushes are supplied two to a box. The steering relay uses an upper and a lower bush to support the rocker shaft, so you typically replace both together when overhauling the relay on a Series 1, 2, 2A or 3. Fitting them as a pair keeps the shaft properly supported.
