Coolant Bypass Hose - 2.25 Petrol is the short coolant hose forming the thermostat bypass circuit in the 2.25L Petrol engine cooling system.
When the thermostat is closed during cold engine warm-up, coolant recirculates via this bypass - between the thermostat housing and the water pump inlet - rather than passing through the radiator. This allows the engine to reach operating temperature quickly before the thermostat opens to admit radiator coolant.
