Radiator Hose - Bottom is the lower coolant hose in the engine cooling circuit, connecting the radiator bottom outlet to the water pump inlet.

It returns cooled coolant from the base of the radiator to the pump, which circulates it back through the engine block. Moulded to suit the 2.25L 4-cylinder petrol engine installation.

What does the NRC3115 radiator hose do and which engine does it fit?

The NRC3115 is the bottom radiator hose for the 2.25L petrol engine, connecting the radiator bottom outlet to the water pump inlet. It fits Land Rover Series 3 with the 2.25L petrol engine, and Series 2 and 2A with the 2.25L petrol engine where a Series 3 type radiator has been fitted.

Does this hose fit Series 2 and 2A without modification?

Only if a Series 3 type radiator has already been fitted. The original Series 2 and 2A radiator uses a different bottom outlet position, so this hose won't mate correctly without the later radiator. On Series 3 with the 2.25L petrol engine, it fits directly.

Why do bottom radiator hoses fail on Series Land Rovers?

Radiator hoses degrade from the inside out through heat cycling and coolant chemistry. The rubber can swell, crack, or collapse internally, restricting coolant flow. On older Series vehicles, age and dried-out rubber are the most common causes. Symptoms include coolant loss, overheating, or a soft spongy hose.
