Frequently asked questions

What does Air Filter 605191 fit on a Land Rover?
This air filter element fits the 3.5L V8 Twin Carburettor engine air intake on Series III Stage 1 V8, Discovery 1 (1989-1998, Twin Carb only), and Range Rover Classic (1970-1994, carburettor models to VIN HA610293). It's specific to the twin carburettor V8 and is not compatible with EFI variants that use a different air box design.
How does the Air Filter 605191 protect the V8 engine?
The filter element sits in the air intake housing ahead of the twin carburettors, removing airborne dust and debris from the incoming air charge. A blocked or bypassed filter allows abrasive particles into the carburettor internals and combustion chambers, causing accelerated wear on older Rover V8 engines.
Can this air filter be cleaned and reused, or does it need replacing?
This is a service replacement filter element. Filter elements of this type are typically designed for replacement rather than cleaning, as cleaning can damage the filter medium and reduce filtration efficiency. Replace it at each scheduled service to maintain correct air flow and protect the Twin Carb V8.
