Rotor Arm for the distributor ignition system.

The rotor arm mounts on the top of the distributor shaft and turns with it. It picks up the high-tension voltage delivered to the central contact of the distributor cap and distributes it in sequence to each spark plug lead terminal, directing the spark to the correct cylinder in the engine's firing order.

For the 3.5L V8 petrol engine with a points-type distributor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC3613 rotor arm and what does it do?
The RTC3613 rotor arm mounts on top of the distributor shaft and spins with it. It picks up high-tension voltage from the centre of the distributor cap and sends it in turn to each spark plug lead, directing the spark to the correct cylinder. It's for the 3.5L V8 with a points-type distributor.
Which Land Rovers does this V8 rotor arm fit?
This RTC3613 rotor arm fits the 3.5L V8 petrol engine with a points-type distributor on the Defender, Discovery 1, Range Rover Classic and the Series 3 Stage One V8. It's specific to the points distributor setup, so confirm your V8 runs contact breaker points rather than electronic ignition.
Why does a rotor arm fail and what happens if it does?
A rotor arm fails when its carbon track cracks or the metal contact wears or corrodes, which weakens or kills the spark. Typical signs are misfires, rough running or a no-start. It's a common tune-up part on the classic V8, usually renewed alongside the distributor cap and points.
