Bonnet Release Cable for the bonnet latch assembly on the Freelander 1.

This cable runs from the interior release handle, through the bulkhead and firewall area, to the bonnet latch mechanism. Pulling the interior handle applies tension to the cable and releases the latch, allowing the bonnet to open. Replacement is recommended when the cable becomes frayed, kinked, or fails to release the bonnet latch consistently.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ALR8167 bonnet release cable do?
The ALR8167 bonnet release cable connects the Freelander 1 interior release handle to the bonnet latch. Pulling the handle tensions the cable and releases the latch so the bonnet can open. It runs from the cabin through the bulkhead to the latch mechanism.
When should the bonnet release cable be replaced?
Replace the bonnet release cable when it frays, kinks, or stops releasing the bonnet latch reliably. A stretched or seized cable is the usual reason the Freelander 1 bonnet won't pop, and a snapped cable can leave the bonnet stuck shut. It's an aftermarket replacement for the original.
Does this cable fit all Freelander models?
This bonnet release cable fits the Freelander 1 built from 1996 to 2006. It doesn't fit the Freelander 2, which uses a different latch and cable setup. Confirm you have the Freelander 1 before ordering. Routing runs from the interior handle through the bulkhead to the latch.
