Frequently asked questions

What is the BTP2282 radiator frame top and what does it do?
The BTP2282 is the upper frame, also called the slam panel, that sits across the top of the front cooling pack on 300 Tdi diesel applications. It retains the upper edge of the radiator and intercooler and carries the mounting points that hold both in place.
Where does the radiator frame top fit on the vehicle?
It's positioned at the top of the front cooling pack, tying the radiator and intercooler into the front body structure. As a structural mounting panel, it typically needs to be fitted before the cooling pack components can be correctly aligned.
Why would the radiator frame top need replacing?
This panel typically only needs replacing after accident damage, corrosion, or when the mounting points have cracked or distorted from repeated cooling pack removal. Check for rust or stress cracks around the mounting holes before reinstalling.
