Steering Drop Arm Puller - a specialist tool for drawing the drop arm off the splined output shaft of the steering box.

The drop arm is a tight taper-spline fit and commonly corrodes onto the shaft, making it very difficult to remove. The puller has a 57.5mm opening that locates against the cast tabs either side of the arm and draws it off squarely, protecting the shaft splines and the steering box oil seal from damage. Greasing the bolt threads before use eases operation.

Supplied with a spare threaded bar (12.9 grade).

Frequently asked questions

What is the DA1749 steering drop arm puller used for?
The DA1749 steering drop arm puller draws the drop arm off the splined output shaft of the steering box. The drop arm is a tight taper-spline fit that commonly corrodes onto the shaft, and the puller's 57.5mm opening pulls it off squarely without damaging the splines.
Why do you need a puller to remove the steering drop arm?
You need a puller because the drop arm sits on a tight taper-spline and typically corrodes solidly onto the steering box shaft, making it very hard to remove by hand. The DA1749 locates against the cast tabs either side of the arm and draws it off squarely, protecting the shaft splines and the box oil seal.
What comes with the DA1749 puller?
The DA1749 comes with a spare threaded bar in 12.9 grade, the high-tensile bar that does the pulling work. Greasing the bolt threads before use eases operation and reduces the effort needed to draw a stubborn drop arm off the shaft.
Which Land Rovers does the DA1749 drop arm puller fit?
The DA1749 suits the steering box drop arm on the Land Rover Defender, Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic. Fitment depends on the steering box and drop arm type rather than the model year, so confirm your drop arm matches the 57.5mm puller opening before ordering.
