Frequently asked questions

What does the EEP191L parking brake switch do?
The EEP191L parking brake switch operates the handbrake warning lamp in the instrument cluster. It's a plunger-type switch on the handbrake lever; when the lever is pulled up the contact closes and lights the warning lamp, and releasing the lever opens the contact. Fitted to Defender and Range Rover Classic.
Where is the parking brake switch fitted?
The parking brake switch mounts on the handbrake lever assembly and is actuated directly by movement of the lever. The plunger contacts the lever base, so it triggers as soon as the handbrake is applied or released.
What are the signs the switch needs replacing?
A failing parking brake switch typically leaves the brake warning lamp on with the handbrake released, or fails to light it when applied. The plunger contact can stick or wear with age. Check the switch before assuming a fluid level fault, as both share the same warning lamp.
How do I confirm this fits my Range Rover Classic?
This switch fits the Defender (1987-2016) and the Range Rover Classic. On the Classic it covers VIN DA274121 (two-door) or DA273923 (four-door) through to EA351032. Check your VIN against this range before ordering.
