Coolant Bypass Hose for the engine cooling system of the 200 TDi diesel engine.

It carries coolant along the bypass path so that flow continues to circulate around the engine while the thermostat is closed, allowing the engine to warm evenly before the main radiator circuit opens. The hose is secured at each end with a worm-drive clamp.

Rubber coolant hoses harden and perish with age and heat; renewal during cooling-system service helps prevent leaks and overheating.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ERR1361 coolant bypass hose do?
The ERR1361 coolant bypass hose carries coolant along the bypass path on the 200Tdi 2.5L diesel engine, so coolant keeps circulating around the engine while the thermostat is closed. This helps the engine warm evenly before the main radiator circuit opens.
When should the coolant bypass hose be replaced?
Replace the coolant bypass hose if it's perished, swollen or leaking. Rubber coolant hoses harden and crack with age and heat, and a failed bypass hose typically causes coolant loss and overheating. Renewing it during cooling-system work is sensible.
Which Land Rovers does the ERR1361 fit?
The ERR1361 fits the 200Tdi engine in the Defender (1990-1994), Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic (1992-1994). It's secured with a worm-drive clamp at each end in the 20-32 clamp size. Confirm your engine is the 200Tdi before ordering.
