Bypass Hose for the engine cooling system of the 200 TDi diesel engine, connecting into the coolant pump.

It carries coolant on the bypass route to the pump while the thermostat is closed, keeping coolant circulating around the engine during warm-up before the main radiator circuit opens. The hose is retained by worm-drive clamps at each connection.

Rubber coolant hoses harden and perish with age and heat; renewal during cooling-system service helps prevent leaks and overheating.

Frequently asked questions

What does the ERR1424 bypass hose do?
The ERR1424 bypass hose carries coolant on the bypass route into the coolant pump on the 200Tdi 2.5L diesel engine. It keeps coolant circulating around the engine while the thermostat is closed during warm-up, before the main radiator circuit opens.
When should the bypass hose be replaced?
Replace the bypass hose if it's perished, swollen or weeping. Rubber coolant hoses harden and crack with age and heat, and a failure here typically causes coolant loss and overheating. It's worth renewing during cooling-system work while access is good.
Which Land Rovers does the ERR1424 fit?
The ERR1424 fits the 200Tdi engine in the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic (1992-1994), running as the bypass hose to the coolant pump. Confirm your engine is the 200Tdi before ordering.
