Side Cover Gasket sealing the cylinder-block side cover (tappet inspection cover) to the block face, for petrol and diesel engines.

The side cover closes the pushrod and tappet chamber on the side of the cylinder block. This gasket forms the oil-tight joint between the cover plate and the machined block face, and is renewed whenever the cover is removed for access to the tappets or cam followers.
