Inlet Valve for the TD5 2.5L 5-Cylinder Turbo Diesel engine, as fitted to the Defender and Discovery 2.

The inlet valve controls the intake charge entering each combustion chamber in the cylinder head. The TD5 operates five inlet valves - one per cylinder - working in direct contact with the camshaft follower. A worn or damaged inlet valve reduces compression and combustion efficiency, causing rough running and power loss.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ERR6611 inlet valve and what does it do?
The ERR6611 inlet valve controls the intake charge entering each combustion chamber in the cylinder head of the 2.5L Td5 engine. It opens and closes against the camshaft follower to admit air on each intake stroke. Fitted to the Defender and Discovery 2 Td5.
How many inlet valves does a Td5 engine need?
The Td5 is a 5-cylinder engine with one inlet valve per cylinder, so a full set is typically five. Many rebuilds replace inlet and exhaust valves together while the cylinder head is off. Order quantity to suit the job.
What are the signs a Td5 inlet valve needs replacing?
Worn or damaged inlet valves typically cause reduced compression, rough running, and power loss on the Td5. Burnt or pitted valve seats show up as low cylinder compression. Replacement usually happens during a cylinder head overhaul.
