Oil Feed Rail for the 1.8 K-series petrol engine - the strengthened lower ladder rail that bolts to the underside of the cylinder block.

It clamps the main-bearing ladder to improve the bottom end's torsional rigidity while routing the oil feed within the engine. This is the uprated specification and is normally fitted together with a multi-layer steel head gasket when the cylinder head is serviced.

Frequently asked questions

What does the oil feed rail do on the 1.8 K-series?
The oil feed rail is the strengthened lower ladder rail that bolts to the underside of the 1.8 K-series cylinder block on the Freelander 1. It clamps the main-bearing ladder to improve the bottom end's torsional rigidity while routing the oil feed within the engine.
What's the difference between the LCN000140L and the standard rail?
The LCN000140L is the uprated specification of the oil feed rail, where the standard part is LCN000140. On the 1.8 K-series it's normally fitted with a multi-layer steel head gasket when the cylinder head is serviced. LCN100210L is also listed as an alternative.
When is the oil feed rail replaced?
The oil feed rail is typically replaced during a 1.8 K-series head gasket or bottom-end rebuild on the Freelander 1, when fitting the uprated ladder rail and a multi-layer steel gasket together. It's not usually a standalone wear part, but the uprated version is a common upgrade.
