Frequently asked questions

What is the MUC8731 corner bracket used for?
The MUC8731 is the galvanised steel corner bracket at the rear body capping, on the left-hand side of the tailgate aperture on Defender 90/110 (1987-2006). It provides the mounting surface and structural backing for the antiluce tailgate catch.
Which side of the vehicle does this bracket fit?
Left-hand side. MUC8731 is the LH rear corner bracket; the right-hand side uses a different part. Confirm you need the left-hand bracket before ordering for your Defender 90 or 110.
Does this match part numbers ASR2451 or LR062011?
Yes. MUC8731 cross-references to ASR2451 and LR062011, which are alternative numbers for the same galvanised left-hand rear corner bracket on the Defender.
Why is this corner bracket galvanised?
It's galvanised to resist corrosion at the rear body capping, an area around the tailgate exposed to road spray and weather. The galvanised finish helps the bracket and the catch mounting last in wet conditions.
