Fuel Cooler for the diesel fuel return circuit.

Mounted in the return line between the fuel injection system and the tank, it dissipates heat picked up by the fuel as it passes through the high-pressure injection components. Cooling the return fuel keeps tank temperatures within limits and helps maintain consistent fuelling and injector performance.

Specified for the Td5 2.5L five-cylinder turbo diesel engine.
Vehicle Model Land Rover Defender up to 2016
Land Rover Discovery 2 1998-2004 (L318)
Fitment Notes DEFENDER 1998-2007 — Fuel cooler, TD5

Frequently asked questions

What does the TD5 fuel cooler do?
The TD5 fuel cooler dissipates heat that diesel picks up passing through the high-pressure injection system, cooling the fuel before it returns to the tank. This keeps tank temperatures within limits and helps maintain consistent fuelling. It sits in the return circuit of the TD5 2.5 five-cylinder diesel.
Why does the TD5 fuel cooler fail?
TD5 fuel coolers typically fail through internal corrosion, splits or leaks that let fuel or coolant escape. Signs include leaks around the unit or a fuel smell. A failed cooler lets return fuel run hot, so it's worth replacing once it leaks. Fitted to Defender and Discovery 2.
Can this replace the original Behr fuel cooler?
Yes, this fuel cooler can be used in place of the Behr unit originally fitted to the TD5. It's an aftermarket Allmakes part matching the same application on Defender (1998-2007) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004), so it fits where the Behr cooler was.
Which vehicles does this TD5 fuel cooler fit?
This fuel cooler fits Defender (1998-2007) and Discovery 2 (1998-2004) with the TD5 diesel engine, which share the same fuel-return setup. Confirm your engine is the TD5 before ordering, as other Defender and Discovery diesels use different fuel-system layouts.
