Conrod Bearing Set (big-end bearings) for the 2.6L 6-cylinder petrol engine.

The shells sit between the connecting-rod big-ends and the crankshaft journals, carrying the rotating load on a film of oil. This set is machined 0.010" undersize, to suit a crankshaft whose big-end journals have been reground to that dimension.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC172110 conrod bearing set?
The RTC172110 is a set of big-end (connecting-rod) bearing shells for the 2.6-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine fitted to the Land Rover Series 2, 2A and 3. The shells carry the rotating load between the conrod big-ends and the crankshaft journals on a film of oil.
What does 0.010 inch undersize mean on the RTC172110?
The 0.010 inch undersize on the RTC172110 means the bearing shells suit a crankshaft whose big-end journals have been reground 0.010 inch smaller than standard. Order this set only if your 2.6L crankshaft has been machined to that dimension, otherwise the clearances won't be correct.
Is the RTC172110 supplied as a complete set?
The RTC172110 is supplied as a set covering the big-end bearings for the 2.6L six-cylinder engine. It's typically fitted as a complete set during an engine rebuild or crankshaft regrind, so all the conrod journals get matched bearing shells at once.
When do the conrod bearings need replacing?
Worn big-end bearings typically show as a deep knocking noise that worsens under load, along with low oil pressure. On the 2.6L Series engine they're usually renewed during a crankshaft regrind or full rebuild, which restores correct journal clearances.
