Water Pump O-Ring forms the coolant seal between the water pump and the engine front cover, within the cooling circuit.

It seats in the water pump mounting face and prevents coolant escaping at the joint between the pump and the engine. Fit a new O-ring whenever the water pump is removed or replaced to ensure a reliable seal.

Frequently asked questions

What does the water pump O-ring do?
The water pump O-ring forms the coolant seal between the water pump and the engine, sealing the joint in the cooling circuit. It seats in the water pump mounting face and stops coolant escaping where the pump meets the engine.
Which engines does this water pump O-ring fit?
This O-ring fits the water pump on the 2.6 litre six-cylinder engine used in the Land Rover Series 2 and 3, and the 2.0 litre petrol engine in the Series II (1958-1961). Confirm your engine before ordering.
Should the water pump O-ring be replaced every time?
Yes, fit a new O-ring whenever the water pump is removed or replaced. The old ring takes a compression set once fitted and typically won't reseal reliably if reused, which can let coolant weep from the joint.
