Brand Delphi
Rear Wheel Cylinder (Right-Hand) is the hydraulic actuator within the rear drum brake assembly, mounted to the brake backplate.

Under pedal pressure the internal pistons extend to push the brake shoes outward against the drum, converting hydraulic line pressure into mechanical actuation of the shoes. This unit fits the right-hand side of the rear axle. The brake pipe connects to the cylinder via a 5/16" UNF union nut.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC3626 rear wheel cylinder and what does it do?
The RTC3626 rear wheel cylinder is the hydraulic actuator in the rear drum brake, bolted to the brake backplate. Under pedal pressure its pistons push the brake shoes out against the drum. This is the right-hand version for the rear axle of the Defender 110/130 with rear drum brakes.
Which side does this wheel cylinder fit, and do I need a pair?
This RTC3626 is the right-hand rear wheel cylinder. The left-hand side is a separate part, so order that too if you're doing both corners. Wheel cylinders are usually replaced in pairs across the axle so braking stays even, especially once one has started to leak.
How does the brake pipe connect to this wheel cylinder?
The brake pipe connects to the RTC3626 wheel cylinder via a 5/16 inch UNF union nut, per the fitment data. Check your existing brake line uses the matching 5/16 UNF fitting before ordering. The cylinder mounts to the rear drum backplate on the Defender 110/130.
Why do rear wheel cylinders fail and what are the signs?
A rear wheel cylinder fails when its internal seals perish and leak fluid past the pistons, or when it seizes. Typical signs are a soft pedal, fluid on the backplate or inside the drum, and reduced braking. A leaking cylinder will usually fail an MOT and should be replaced.
