Locknut for body and trim panel fixings.

It seats into a pre-formed aperture in the panel to provide a captive threaded point for the screws or bolts that retain trim, finishers, lamp housings, grille and facia components. This gives a stable fixing where no direct threaded metal attachment is present, and allows the attached components to be removed and refitted during service.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC3745LR locknut used for?
The RTC3745LR locknut provides a captive threaded fixing point for body and trim panels. It seats into a pre-formed aperture in the panel so screws or bolts can retain trim, finishers, lamp housings, grille and facia parts where there's no threaded metal to screw into.
How many of these locknuts do I need?
Order the RTC3745LR locknut by how many fixing points your job uses, as each screw location needs one nut. They're supplied individually. It's worth renewing all the nuts in an area you're refitting, since old ones can lose grip once disturbed.
Where is the RTC3745LR locknut used on the vehicle?
The RTC3745LR locknut is used across many body and trim locations. On the Defender that includes the radiator grille, facia, instrument covers and rear lamp housings; on the Freelander 1 the radio console and sill finishers; and on the Range Rover P38 the alarm and locking components.
Can the trim locknut be reused?
These captive locknuts are best renewed rather than reused once removed, as the locking grip can weaken after the first fitting. Fitting a fresh RTC3745LR locknut gives a secure hold for the trim or lamp screw and helps stop fixings working loose later.
