Frequently asked questions

What does the RTC5869GRXS track rod end do?
The RTC5869GRXS is the right-hand track rod end, the articulating ball-joint that connects the track rod to the steering arm. It transmits steering input to the road wheel while allowing for suspension and steering movement. This is the threaded screw-in type with an integral greaser.
Which models does this track rod end fit?
This right-hand track rod end fits the Defender (1987-2016), Discovery 1 (1989-1998, VIN FA393361 to WA799999) and Range Rover Classic (1986-1994). It's the threaded type with greaser, supplied as a complete ball-joint assembly.
What are the signs a track rod end needs replacing?
A worn track rod end typically shows as steering play, knocking over bumps, uneven tyre wear or an MOT advisory on the ball-joint. A split dust boot lets grease out and dirt in, which speeds up wear. It's often advised to replace them in pairs.
