Drag Link Ball Joint - Long, part of the steering linkage.

The drag link transmits movement from the steering box drop arm to the steered axle. This ball joint forms the articulating connection at one end of the drag link, allowing the linkage to pivot through the steering and suspension travel while keeping the geometry located. This is the long joint of the linkage.

Wear in the joint produces play in the steering, knocking over rough ground and uneven tyre wear; a torn boot accelerates failure by admitting dirt and water to the bearing.

Frequently asked questions

What does the long drag link ball joint do?
The long drag link ball joint is the articulating connection at one end of the drag link, the steering rod that transmits movement from the steering box drop arm to the steered axle. It lets the linkage pivot through steering and suspension travel while keeping the geometry located. This is the long joint of the linkage.
Which Range Rover does this drag link ball joint fit?
This long drag link ball joint fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) steering linkage. It's also referenced under part number QFS000060. Check whether you need the long or short joint, as the drag link uses a different joint at each end.
What are the signs of a worn drag link ball joint?
A worn drag link ball joint typically produces play in the steering, knocking over rough ground and uneven tyre wear. A torn boot accelerates failure by letting dirt and water into the bearing. Because it's a steering joint, replace it promptly once wear shows.
