Brake Caliper Guide Pin Set for the sliding (floating) disc brake caliper assembly. The guide pins locate the caliper to its mounting bracket and allow it to slide freely as the brakes are applied, keeping the pads square to the disc for even contact and wear.

Over time the pins can seize or corrode, causing the caliper to bind, which leads to uneven pad wear, brake noise and reduced braking efficiency. Suits calipers running solid (non-vented) discs.

This set contains the caliper guide pins together with their rubber dust boots.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC1910 Brake Caliper Guide Pin Set do?
The STC1910 guide pin set locates a sliding (floating) brake caliper to its mounting bracket and lets it slide freely as the brakes apply, keeping the pads square to the disc for even wear. The set includes the guide pins and their rubber dust boots.
How many guide pin sets do I need for one axle?
A floating caliper typically uses two guide pins, and this set covers one caliper. To do both sides of an axle you'll usually need two sets. Replacing them in pairs keeps braking even across the axle.
Why do brake caliper guide pins fail on a Land Rover?
Guide pins usually fail when they seize or corrode, which stops the caliper sliding and makes it bind. That typically shows as uneven pad wear, brake noise and reduced braking on the affected corner. Fresh pins and boots restore free caliper movement.
Which brakes does this guide pin set fit?
This set fits calipers running solid, non-vented discs: Discovery 2 (1999-2004) and Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) rear brakes, and Freelander 1 (1996-2006) front calipers up to VIN YA999999. Confirm your caliper uses non-vented discs before ordering.
