Brake Caliper Piston for the hydraulic disc brake caliper, 46mm diameter and 30.68mm height.

The piston sits within the caliper bore and transfers hydraulic pressure from the brake fluid to the brake pad, pressing the pad against the disc to generate braking force. It is sealed in the bore by the caliper piston seal and protected by the dust boot.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC201R brake caliper piston do?
The STC201R is a 46mm front brake caliper piston for the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006). Working inside the caliper bore, it converts brake fluid pressure into clamping force on the pad, pushing it against the disc. It's sold individually.
Is one STC201R piston enough to rebuild a caliper?
One STC201R usually isn't enough for a full caliper. Defender front calipers typically house more than one 46mm piston, so a complete rebuild needs a piston for each bore plus fresh seals. Count your caliper's pistons and order to match.
What are the signs a caliper piston has failed?
A failed caliper piston typically shows brake fluid weeping past the seal, a piston that won't retract, or a brake that drags and runs hot. Pitting and corrosion on the 46mm piston surface are the usual causes. Fit new pistons during a rebuild to cure a sticking Defender brake.
Will the STC201R fit my Defender?
The STC201R fits the front brake caliper of the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) and is a 46mm diameter piston. Caliper bore sizes differ across models, so measure your existing piston or bore and confirm 46mm before ordering.
