Rear Brake Caliper Pistons for the rear disc brake caliper. Each piston runs in a caliper bore behind the square-section piston seal and dust boot, and transfers hydraulic pressure from the brake circuit onto the back face of the brake pad.
Piston diameter and the finish of the sealing land govern how the square-section seal deflects and retracts the piston when the pedal is released. A pitted or corroded piston drags the pad against the disc, causes tapered pad wear and rapidly destroys the seal and dust boot.
Supplied as a set of two pistons, the quantity fitted to one caliper. Renew the piston seal and dust boot whenever a piston is replaced, and rebuild calipers in axle pairs so braking effort stays balanced.
